Verdant

On my way to Rye in East Sussex, I made a diversion to Fairfield which is a short drive off the main road.

This was on Wednesday when the rain had temporarily abated and I wanted to take some photographs of the marsh with the Romney sheep in the fields.

The narrow road also acts as a dyke or causeway and it gave me some height across the flat landscape. Stopping the car in the middle of the road, I used my Fuji X-T1 camera with my favourite lens, the 23mm f/1.4 (35mm equivalent) to take this shot.

The watercourses were full although not overflowing and there were reeds visible in the waterlogged landscape. There was a strong side light giving good shadows.

As usual I was shooting RAW plus JPG thereby producing two files for each shot. I set the film simulation mode to ‘Velvia’ and here I have used the JPG for the final image, just cropped to 5 x 4 format.

Taken with a Fuji X-T1 camera and Fujinon 23mm f/1.4 XF R lens, exposure of 1/450th second at f/5.6, ISO 200.
